Such glory
With a brandish of his long sword and a deft jab from his steel lance, the brave cavalier slayed two villagers working peacefully mining stone. The cavalier felt great pride swelling in him. He, one man, had slayed two.
So was my great army. I had 50 of these great cavaliers that protected my border with my enemy nation. The boundries of our nations were debatable. There was a valuable stone mine located in that region and vast forest to gather wood. At long last, I was able to capture the border with my cavaliers that slayed every villager from the opposing side that attempted to mine the stone. I felt great pride brimming inside me. I laughed mirthlessly and thumped my chest with great pleasure.
But one of my allies resigned early before even reaching the Castle Age and then my brother resigned for his nation was being attacked by four. At last I was left with only one ally against four foes. My ally was soon to crumble and I was the last one left. I put up a valiant fight and gathered an army of cavaliers, but it was not long before they were dashed to peices by my foes. It was a good 300 versus my small number. Tears rolled from my eyes. Their monks converted my market. I could not trade for more gold to increase my army. My stables were being bombarded with catapults and trebuchets and burning to the ground. My villagers that labored on the good earth and the stones were being slayed mirthlessly.
Revenge. Victory no more. Lost to my foes all that I possessed...
